Financial Support for Birds on the Brink in 2024

Birds on the Brink would like to thank Bird Photographer of the Year for a generous donation recently received by the charity.

Thanks are due not only to the organisers of this prestigious international award but also to the entrants for their support. A proportion of their entrance fees helps make possible BPOTY’s direct contribution to conservation of the bird world.

It was particularly gratifying that the overall winning image of this year’s Bird Photographer of the Year competition highlighted the plight of migratory birds and the impact of the human environment on them.

Thanks are also due to Princeton University Press who publish the book that accompanies Bird Photographer of the Year. They also made a generous contribution to the Birds on the Brink funds in 2024.

Over the past year, Birds on the Brink has awarded conservation grants for Swift nest boxes in the UK, along with grants that supported research on threatened birds in Argentina’s Atlantic Forests, research into Avian Flu by the British Trust for Ornithology and Egyptian Vulture conservation research in Asia undertaken by the Hawk Conservancy Trust. For more information about these grants, see previous blogs.
